I really love this time of year. It has always been my favorite from as far back as I can remember. From the Christmas “Spirit” that seems to make everyone a little bit kinder to having more time to spend with family.
I have also enjoyed being able to look back over the past year and learn from mistakes I have made and just evaluate where I am as a person relative to where I want to be. The New Year has something special about it. A fresh start, an empty canvas where each person can start again or for some its just the “hope” of a better life. We call this process our “New Year Resolutions”. Where we resolve to finally get the task done that we may have put off for years. It may be a “Goal” that we have started many times before, but something came up, or we just fell short again. Some people say, “What’s the use, I never really keep my resolutions.” I hope each of you do not allow this mindset to take over you.
Remember as children how big we could dream. There was nothing we weren’t going to do or places we couldn’t go. Somehow in life we lose the laughter the joy and many times the dreams.
I don’t know what your dreams are but I hope you have them. I hope this week you have written them down or will write them down and then believe you can accomplish them. Turn off the TV (especially the news) and take time to dream again. Don’t allow the negative influence that is all around you to detract you from what you really want in YOUR life. Make 2012 your greatest masterpiece. I was watching Nick Vujicic (google him) the other day talk about how great life is and all he plans to achieve. You’ll have a hard time finding a more happy, energetic and passionate person than Nick. If you don’t know Nick’s story he was born with no arms or legs and he travels around the world uplifting and motivating others. He has accomplished so much at a young age and has a mountain of goals he is determined to accomplish.
I know most of us will never have the challenges Nick does. There is so much we can accomplish regardless of our past failures or set-backs. Stop looking back just to remind yourself of something you didn’t do. There is nothing you can do about that. We must get ourselves to learn from the past but keep our eyes headed forward. The only moment that really counts is “right now”. Your future depends upon what you do “right now”. So go out and set the biggest goals you can dream of and then work on them “right now”. Begin to take action everyday and you will be surprised at where you are in one year. The time to take action is “right now”.
Just a reminder we will be starting my weekly seminars again this Wednesday at 5:00. Make 2012 the year you finally lose that weight or get healthy. I work with patients who are dealing with all types of health related issues. Whether you want to lose weight, have hormonal issues, or just don’t feel healthy we have a program for you. You can register or call our office and we will save a spot for you. I am currently giving every one who attends a copy of my new book, “Improve the Quality of Your Life – Why Live in Pain?” We look forward to seeing you.
